In a transformative move, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced a Rs 1,000 crore allocation aimed at elevating Osmania University to global standards. The 100-year-old university, a pivotal player in the Telangana statehood movement, is set to undergo significant upgrades as part of the government's vision for educational excellence.
During his visit to the university, which has been instrumental in producing notable figures such as former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao and folk singer Gaddar, Reddy disclosed plans for extensive collaboration with students and academics. He underscored the institution's historical significance in Telangana's fight against authoritarianism.
Reddy also launched a critique of the previous BRS government for extravagant spending, contrasting it with initiatives aligning with Telangana's cultural identity, including a state song and efforts to address social backwardness. The initiative to establish Young India Integrated Residential Schools to bridge caste divides was highlighted as a cornerstone of the administration's forward-thinking educational strategy.
