The IndiaSkills Regional Competition 2025-26 was inaugurated by Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary at Gauhati University, Assam. This prestigious event marks a significant step in integrating skill development with formal education in line with the National Education Policy 2020.

Chaudhary, who holds portfolios for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and State Education, emphasized the need for skill and education alignment to bolster employability and entrepreneurial prospects. The competition is being organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the National Skill Development Corporation, bringing the championship to the North-Eastern region for the first time.

The event has drawn 162 competitors from the North-East, offering them a platform to compete in various skill categories such as technology and fashion. This initiative underlines the government's commitment to nurturing talent in the North-East, echoing the Prime Minister's focus and policy initiatives for the region.
