A fatal accident occurred in Betul district, Madhya Pradesh, when a school van collided with a jeep, claiming the life of a young girl and injuring 11 other students. The tragic incident unfolded in the village of Gudgaon, 60 kilometers from the main district.
The collision happened near a gas warehouse by the Purna river, leaving a five-year-old kindergarten student, Harshita Patankar, dead at the scene. Bhainsdehi Sub-Divisional Officer of Police, Bhupendra Singh Maurya, confirmed the accident, stating that four children and the van driver, who sustained serious injuries, were transported to Betul District Hospital, while others were treated at Bhainsdehi Community Health Centre.
Family member Rajesh Varvade highlighted prior warnings about the school van's poor condition, alleging negligence from the school management. The family is demanding strict action against those responsible, as officials review the incident and assess the students' treatment.
