The Odisha government has entered into agreements with Tata Technologies to transform 22 state-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into advanced centres of excellence. This move aims to bridge the gap between education and industry requirements, ensuring the youth of Odisha are prepared for a modern, competitive job market.
Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain stated that the initiative's total cost is estimated at Rs 779 crore, with the state covering 14% and Tata Technologies the remainder. These upgraded institutions will feature modern labs and industry-grade tools, necessary for offering training that aligns with current industrial standards.
The project is part of a broader strategy to foster inclusive growth and global competitiveness by focusing on high-growth sectors such as electric vehicles, 3D printing, IoT, and robotics. Additional collaborations involve UNICEF for digital skilling of girls and partnerships to enhance skills in robotics, automation, and create overseas employment opportunities in Europe.
