Call for Equal Education Rights Across Religious Institutions

Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma has called for a unified legal framework for religious educational institutions across India. Speaking during Zero Hour on Wednesday, Sharma accused the current system of discriminating against Hindu-run institutions, which face administrative and financial burdens not imposed on minority-run establishments.

Sharma highlighted the structural inequality produced by Articles 29 and 30, which allow minority communities to independently manage their educational institutions, exempt from certain regulations under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Citing court cases, Sharma argued that these laws unfairly disadvantage Hindu-run schools.

Advocating for amendments or reinterpretations of the existing articles, Sharma emphasized the need for equal rights in education, stating, "One nation, one law - that must apply to education too." He urged the government to ensure fair treatment for all Indian religious educational institutions.
