NTPC, a major state-run power company, announced on Thursday its plan to set up STEM labs in 27 government schools in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district. This initiative falls under NTPC's Corporate Social Responsibility efforts to foster scientific skills among students.

The Memorandum of Agreement was signed between NTPC Ltd and the Ri-Bhoi District Administration, with NTPC's Bongaigaon unit spearheading the execution of this project. The financial backing from NTPC, amounting to Rs 1.48 crore, aims to develop STEM labs fully equipped with modern tools to boost creativity and problem-solving abilities in students.

The Ri-Bhoi District Administration will handle the execution, procurement, and quality assurance, ensuring coordination with beneficiary schools. Meanwhile, NTPC will monitor the project's progress, ensuring its alignment with national educational priorities to promote STEM learning, especially in underserved regions.
