The Delhi government announced a major pay increase for teachers involved in the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and vocational courses, with raises ranging from Rs 14,000 to Rs 18,000. The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting, as confirmed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday.
Approximately 1,131 vocational teachers in Delhi, providing skill-based training across various disciplines, will now earn Rs 38,100 monthly, a substantial increase from the previous Rs 20,000-Rs 23,000 range. Similarly, 784 Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan centres, which focus on helping out-of-school children re-enter mainstream education, will see teachers' salaries rise from Rs 21,000 to Rs 35,420 monthly.
This salary adjustment is aimed at aligning these educators' pay with that of primary and upper primary teachers, effectively recognizing their hard work and dedication. The government is also committed to enhancing the quality of special training centres through improved monitoring and inter-departmental coordination.
