Five individuals have been arrested by police for allegedly orchestrating an online betting operation on IPL matches, specifically from the Vivekanand Camp area in Delhi's Chanakyapuri, authorities reported on Tuesday.
The apprehensions resulted from a targeted May 4 raid following detailed intelligence about illegal betting activities connected to IPL matches. According to police reports, the accused were caught in the act of betting on a match between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.
Identifiers of the accused include Viru alias Kallu Ram, 31, Vinit Kumar, 40, Ashu Kumar, 31, Sahil Wadhera, 23, and Prashant, 33, residents of Delhi and Haryana. The raid also led to the confiscation of two laptops, seven mobile phones, and cash implicated in the operation. Authorities have initiated further investigations to unravel the entire network.
