On Monday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy extended an invitation to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, asking him to attend a significant event scheduled for June 12. During this event, students will take a pledge to refrain from tobacco, alcohol, and drugs.

The reopening of schools after the summer vacation on June 12 provides a fitting opportunity to make such a commitment. This pledge is part of a broader initiative to foster a shared responsibility among students, teachers, parents, and institutional management for maintaining safe, drug-free educational spaces, as per an official release.

Integral to the event is the involvement of the school education department, police, and the EAGLE Force (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement) of the state government. Additionally, the government will provide students with kits that include uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, school bags, sports clothing, among other essentials.
