On Monday, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria emphasized the paramount importance of mental health and emotional well-being in students' lives, declaring that true success is incomplete without a healthy mind. He addressed a conference of vice-chancellors focusing on a 'uniform policy on mental health and well-being for higher educational institutions.'
Kataria expressed deep concern over issues such as rising stress, loneliness, and academic pressure faced by students. He advocated for educational institutions to establish comprehensive systems for mental wellness, including counseling, wellness cells, and peer-mentoring programs to create a supportive learning environment.
Highlighting the National Education Policy-2020, Kataria reiterated the interconnectedness of mental wellness and self-reliance. He urged universities to integrate mental health awareness into their culture, positioning Punjab's institutions as leaders in nurturing emotionally resilient, future-ready youth.
