Angola seeks agreement with Finland in higher education field

Angola is highly interested in making cooperation agreement with Finland. Angola's minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Maria do Rosário Sambo expressed intention to create a legal basis for establishing a cooperation agreement with Finland to take advantage of the training the higher education institutions of the European country offer.

Maria do Rosário Sambo was speaking Tuesday in Luanda at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Timo Soini, as part of his visit to Angola.

The parties agreed that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI), through its Exchange Office, work with the Embassy of Finland in Angola on creation of this cooperation agreement in higher education field.

The minister spoke of the sector's interest in allowing some graduates to apply to Finnish universities, under Presidential Decree No. 67/19 of 22 February, approving the Annual Submission Programme of 300 graduates to attend training in world's best universities.

The meeting also discussed the Finland's support for the improvement of the country's innovation system with the integration of Higher Education Institutions (IES), companies as well as the creation of conditions for cooperation between IES and Angolan research and development and similar institutions in Finland to conduct joint research programmes.
