The Japanese manga series Spy × Family was released in two parts in 2022 and quickly gained international acclaim. The manga is created by Tatsuya Endo. The series was released in two parts last year. Without a doubt, the two-part season and its abrupt conclusion have left viewers wanting more. Spy Family Season 2 and a movie were confirmed for December 2022, fans can rest easy.

SPY x FAMILY is a co-production between two major anime studios: WIT STUDIO and CloverWorks.  Recently, Wit Studio hinted that Spy × Family Season 2 and the movie will premiere in 2023.

Tetsuya Nakatake, a co-founder of the animation studio, has stated that the production team is working diligently intending to release both Spy × Family Season 2 and a new original movie in the fall of this year.

Tetsuya Nakatake and several members of the Spy x Family production team attended the 2023 Taipei International Comics & Animation Festival on January 27, 2023. During the event, they offered a glimpse into the making of the first season, which concluded on December 24, 2022, and shared some interesting behind-the-scenes information, (via Redbeanime).

At the festival, Chief Animation Director Kyoji Asano and Tetsuya Nakatake shared that Spy x Family Season 2 will continue the "Imperial Scholars Mixer" storyline and introduce the "Great Cruise Adventure" arc. In this arc, the Forgers will go on their first family vacation, but the trip takes a dangerous turn when Yor is tasked with a Thorn Princess assignment and must set aside her role as an assassin to become a bodyguard. The upcoming movie will be supervised by the mangaka, who will also create the character designs, but not much information about the movie's plot has been disclosed yet.

They also said that they wish to include more battle scenes in Episode 5 of Spy x Family. This episode was an original creation for the anime. A scene in the episode showcased Anya in a pilot costume, and Asano said, "their biggest specialty/aim [was] to depict Anya with maximum adorableness!"

According to CBR.com, Kyoji Asano pointed out various illustrations of Anya, including her outstretched hand from the second ending theme song, her frightened expression during the entrance exam for Eden Academy, her tearful face while mourning the death of Agent Penguin, and her shocked and cunning expressions. Asano expressed his delight in drawing these images through a translator.

The exact release date for Spy × Family Season 2 and Spy × Family film hasn’t been announced. We will keep you updated as soon as we get anything new on the anime series. Currently, Season 1 of Spy x Family is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
