Willow, a fantasy adventure TV series, made its debut on Disney+ from November 30, 2022, to January 2023, and received largely favorable reviews from viewers. However, it is regrettable to announce that there will be no Willow Season 2 on Disney+.

The announcement was made two months after the eight-episode first season of the show concluded its run on the streaming platform. Willow served as a sequel to the classic movie of the same name. Deadline was the first to break the news about the cancellation of the second season of Willow on Disney+.

Willow, the fantasy adventure TV series, is a continuation of the 1988 film of the same name created by George Lucas. Set 17 years after the defeat of Queen Bavmorda, the Willow series follows the journey of six heroes who embark on a perilous quest to distant lands beyond their homelands. Along the way, they confront their inner demons and work together to save their world from the Gales, a dangerous threat that puts the fate of their world in peril.

Warwick Davis returns to portray Willow Ufgood in the series, reprising the character he played in the original film. The series, based on the Willow franchise, was conceptualized for a television adaptation on Disney+ through a collaboration between the franchise's creator, George Lucas, and the series' creator, Jonathan Kasdan.

The show features a talented cast including Warwick Davis, Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Amar Chadha-Patel, Dempsey Bryk, and Joanne Whalley. The series follows an unlikely group of heroes on a perilous journey through a magical world filled with brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures. As they venture far from home, they must confront their inner demons and work together to save their world, as stated in the official logline.

Critics have given the series largely positive reviews, with the first season achieving an 83% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Joshua Alston, in his review for Variety, praised the show's "perfect balance of reverence and irreverence," placing it among the top tier of Disney+ series.

The television series was developed by Jonathan Kasdan, who also co-ran the show alongside Wendy Mericle. Executive producers included Ron Howard, who directed the original film and oversaw the production through Imagine Entertainment, as well as Kathleen Kennedy and Michelle Rejwan from Lucasfilm. Bob Dolman, the writer of the original film, served as a consulting producer. The series was produced by Lucasfilm and Imagine Entertainment.
