Following the conclusion of its first season, the popular TV anime Chained Soldier, known in Japan as "Mato Seihei no Slave," has officially announced its second season. This confirmation came via the anime's official site and social media channels in March, shortly after the season one finale aired. The announcement was highlighted by the release of a new teaser and a visual introducing a significant new character, Ren Yamashiro, who is set to play a pivotal role in the upcoming season.

Chained Soldier is based on the Japanese manga series written by Takahiro and illustrated by Yohei Takemura, which has been serialized on Shueisha's Shōnen Jump+ online platform since January 2019. The anime adaptation, produced by Seven Arcs, originally aired from January to March 2024.

The narrative of Chained Soldier unfolds in a Japan besieged by monsters known as Shuuki, emerging from other-dimensional gates called Mato. These gates contain a resource known as "Peach," which grants supernatural powers to women, leading to a matriarchal societal structure. The story follows Yuuki Wakura, a recent high school graduate who becomes embroiled in this battle against the Shuuki after a fateful encounter with Kyouka Uzen, the commander of the 7th squad of the Demon Defense Force.

Ren Yamashiro's introduction as a central antagonist in the second season marks a significant narrative expansion. She was first hinted at in episode 11's climactic battle and later seen expressing a peculiar interest in Yuuki, the series protagonist. Ren, alongside her group known as the Eight Thunder Gods, appears set to challenge the existing power dynamics and escalate the conflict with the Anti-Demon Corps.

Chained Soldier has sparked diverse reactions among its audience, with some viewers drawn to its dark themes and others critical of its explicit fanservice. Nevertheless, the anime has carved out a niche within the shonen genre, combining intense action sequences with complex character dynamics.
