Assam celebrated International Yoga Day with numerous events across the state. Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal participated, urging the public to adopt yoga for better health. Assam joined the rest of the nation in marking International Yoga Day on Friday, hosting a series of events throughout the state.
The celebrations kicked off in the morning, with key figures like Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal leading the way in various yoga sessions. Kataria attended a session organised by Kamrup Metropolitan district administration at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati.
Chief Minister Sarma took to social media, emphasizing the significance of yoga for a fit and healthy India. He expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making yoga a global phenomenon. Sarma highlighted that yoga ensures both physical and mental wellness, urging parents to introduce yoga to their children early on.
Union Minister Sonowal, participating in Tinsukia, echoed similar sentiments, stressing yoga's role in societal wellness. He lauded the global spread of yoga in the past decade, attributing it to the efforts of PM Modi.
>Besides these leaders, the Assam Police, army units, and the NCC set up yoga camps, drawing participation from officers, personnel, and cadets. Military stations and educational institutions also hosted various activities to commemorate the day.
