The director's funeral took place on the grounds of his residence in Cherthala. Venugopan's legacy also includes his role as an assistant director on significant projects like 'Njan Gandharvan' and 'Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal', working under the direction of P Padmarajan. He debuted as a director with the film 'Kusruthi Kuruppu' in 1998, starring Jayaram and Meena.
