Visva Bharati University has unveiled plans for a 15-day awareness campaign following Santiniketan's UNESCO World Heritage recognition nearly a year ago. Dubbed 'World Heritage Volunteers' (WHV), the campaign kicks off on August 1 and will delve deeply into the philosophies of Rabindranath and Debendranath Tagore.

The initiative, open to participants from India and abroad, includes an array of activities such as discussions on rural reconstruction, heritage conservation strategies, and practical documentation work. These efforts aim to raise awareness about Santiniketan's cultural significance and the challenges it faces as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Professor Anil Kumar, the WHV project coordinator, mentioned that around 50 volunteers, including Visva Bharati students and staff, are expected to join. The campaign aligns with UNESCO's objective to engage heritage volunteers in preservation advocacy and historical conservation.
