Bihar Implements New Film Promotion Policy

The Bihar government has introduced its first film promotion policy to support filmmakers, providing up to Rs 4 crore in financial grants and various incentives. The policy, aimed at highlighting Bihar's cultural heritage and scenic locales, includes single-window clearance and the establishment of a film facilitation centre.

The Bihar government has made a significant move to boost its film industry by approving its first film promotion policy. This initiative, sanctioned during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, aims to offer full institutional support to filmmakers. According to Additional Chief Secretary S Siddharth, the policy provides substantial opportunities for filmmaking in Bihar.

Harjot Kaur Bamhrah, Additional Chief Secretary of the Art, Culture, and Youth Affairs Department, elaborated that the policy will assist filmmakers in showcasing Bihar's rich cultural heritage. She highlighted the state's scenic locations and robust infrastructure as key attractions. The policy includes financial grants of up to Rs 4 crore for films, documentaries, and TV serials in various regional languages, Bamhrah noted.

Additionally, the policy offers several financial incentives for regional films in languages like Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi, Angika, and Bajjika. Bamhrah detailed that the policy ensures a single-window clearance for government permissions and covers essential security and safety measures. An empowered committee and a film facilitation centre will be established to streamline the filmmaking process.
