The revered Sharadamba temple in Sringeri has announced the implementation of a dress code starting August 15, aimed at preserving the sanctity of the shrine.
According to a statement from the temple administration, only traditional Indian attire will be permitted for darshan. Devotees must don dhoti, shalya, and Uttariya (Angavastram) for men, and saree-blouse, salwar-dupatta, or langa davani for women.
Visitors who fail to adhere to the dress code will be restricted to viewing the deity from outside the Ardha Mandapam, without access to the inner sanctum. The policy, previously enforced during specific rituals, has been well received on social media with widespread support citing inappropriate dress by some visitors.
