The unfortunate incident took place in a tenement located in the Shivaji Nagar area on Sunday afternoon, as per an official's statement.

Akriti was playing hide-and-seek with her siblings and a friend while her parents were away when the rope ladder got entangled around her neck. Despite her elder sister's calls for help and immediate assistance from neighbors to rush her to a private hospital, she succumbed to her injuries before receiving medical treatment.

The authorities have registered a case of accidental death and an investigation is currently underway.
