Austrian security officials announced Thursday that they've averted a planned terror attack targeting Taylor Swift's Vienna concerts, leading to the cancellation of the events. The main suspect, a 19-year-old with ties to the Islamic State, has fully confessed to his intentions to target concertgoers.

Security officials, speaking at a press conference, revealed that the suspect had made drastic lifestyle changes and delved deeply into IS propaganda since July. He had abandoned his job, adapted his appearance, and prepared materials for an attack. Authorities also found chemical substances and technical devices, along with radical content, during a raid of his Ternitz home.

An additional suspect, a 17-year-old with similar extremist ties, had recently been employed near the venue and was subsequently arrested. Discussions between security officials and concert organizers led to the decision to cancel the concerts, prioritizing the safety of tens of thousands of 'Swifties' who were set to attend.
