Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Wayanad, Kerala, which was recently ravaged by landslides, and assured that the Central government will 'spare no effort' in aiding the state in relief and rehabilitation efforts. Describing the tragedy as 'nature displaying its furious form', Modi surveyed the disaster-stricken areas and interacted with survivors, including children who lost loved ones. He assured them of full government support.

Modi, accompanied by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, visited a relief camp and a hospital where many of the injured are being treated. The Prime Minister also highlighted the need for comprehensive reconstruction of the affected areas and promised that the Centre would stand with Kerala in these efforts. He asserted that all necessary funds and resources will be made available.

During a review meeting at the District Collectorate, Modi emphasized the state's request for Rs 2,000 crore for rehabilitation alone. The Prime Minister assured that the Central government would act on the detailed memorandum expected from the state government and extend all possible support. He also recalled his personal experience with a similar disaster in Gujarat, expressing deep empathy for the survivors. The Chief Minister requested that the landslides in Wayanad be declared a national calamity to expedite aid and support.
