Empowering Women Representatives at 78th Independence Day

Around 400 women representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions, including 'Lakhpati Didis' and 'Drone Didis', have been invited to the 78th Independence Day celebrations. The event, which includes a national workshop, aims to foster economic empowerment and recognize the vital role of women in rural development.

In a significant move, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj has invited around 400 women representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions as special guests to the 78th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to women's empowerment in rural areas.

Additionally, the Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will felicitate around 45 'Lakhpati Didis' and 30 'Drone Didis' at the event. These schemes aim to provide economic empowerment and financial autonomy to women in rural communities, with 'Lakhpati Didis' earning an annual income of Rs 1 lakh or more and 'Drone Didis' receiving subsidies for drone purchases.

The celebration will also include a national workshop addressed by former lieutenant governor of Puducherry, Kiran Bedi, and senior ministry officials, focusing on the evolving role of women representatives. The eGramSwaraj platform will be launched in multiple languages, enhancing accessibility and usability. The visit to the national capital is planned as an enriching experience for the rural leaders, including a tour of the Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya.
