In a commemorative event hosted by the Governor of Victoria, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Deakin University celebrated three decades of impactful engagement in India. The milestone occasion was graced by elite figures including His Excellency Gopal Baglay, High Commissioner of India to Australia, and Ms. Michelle Wade, Victoria’s Commissioner to South Asia, Global Victoria.
The Governor lauded Deakin University's achievements, emphasizing their strategic 'in India, with India, for India' approach. This philosophy has guided the university's collaboration and initiatives across education and research sectors for thirty years, fostering strong bilateral relations with India.
The event follows Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's announcement, marking Deakin University as the first international institution to set up a branch campus in India's GIFT City. This marks a significant advancement in the Australia-India knowledge partnership, enhancing both educational outcomes and bilateral ties.
