Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated a web-based integrated land record management system on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day.
Developed by the Land Revenue and Disaster Management Department, the system aims to streamline and manage land records more efficiently.
After hoisting the tricolour at the state-level Independence Day celebrations held at Paljor Stadium, Tamang announced plans to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sikkim's statehood with a year-long celebration themed 'Sunaulo Sikkim, Samridha Sikkim - Samarth Sikkim' (golden Sikkim, prosperous Sikkim, and capable Sikkim).
The Chief Minister highlighted the state's dual responsibility to embrace modern technology while preserving its cultural heritage. He emphasized that traditions and values are the foundation of society and must be safeguarded for future generations.
Tamang also underscored environmental protection as a key component of the state's development agenda, introducing the initiative 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' (A Tree in the Name of Mother), urging citizens to plant a tree in honor of their mothers. The initiative aims to preserve Sikkim's biodiversity and combat climate change.
The CM concluded by stressing the importance of collective responsibility and teamwork to achieve the broader vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).
