Indian Coast Guard Director General Rakesh Pal passed away at Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital following a cardiac arrest, as confirmed by Defence sources.

Pal was scheduled to attend an Indian Coast Guard event alongside Defence Minister Rajnath Singh but was admitted to the hospital earlier in the day after experiencing uneasiness, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Upon learning of Pal's passing, Singh, who was attending a Tamil Nadu government ceremony commemorating the birth centenary of late DMK President M. Karunanidhi, quickly made his way to the hospital to pay his respects.
