The Kerala Catholic Bishops Council (KCBC), the apex body of the Catholic Church in the state, has strongly reiterated its stance against homosexual relationships. The Council described campaigns promoting such relationships as ''misleading propaganda'' initiated by vested interests.
The KCBC Jagratha Commission made its position clear in a Facebook post, emphasizing that there has been no change in the Church's view, especially regarding the Mammootty-starrer 'Kathal- The Core', which recently won the best film award at the State Film Awards. The Commission reaffirmed its earlier criticism of the movie for depicting same-sex relationships as natural.
Though firm on its stance, the Commission noted that the Church does not isolate individuals based on their sexual orientation but adopts a compassionate approach towards them. The KCBC further alleged that a progressive section of society is spreading the misconception that the Catholic Church and Pope Francis approve of homosexual relationships. The post concluded by urging people to remain vigilant against such propaganda.
