A luxury super yacht sailboat named 'Bayesian' carrying foreign tourists capsized and sank off the coast of Sicily early Monday. Amidst inclement weather conditions, the incident resulted in one confirmed death, six people missing, and 15 rescued, according to authorities.

The British-flagged, 56-meter 'Bayesian' had a crew of 10 and 12 passengers on board, all hailing from British, American, and Canadian nationalities, the Italian coast guard disclosed.

Initial rescue operations brought 15 survivors to Porticello, with eight hospitalized. As rescue efforts continued, one body was found near the wreck, leaving six others unaccounted for, according to Luca Cari, a spokesperson for the Italian fire rescue service.

Helicopters and rescue boats from the coast guard, carabinieri, fire rescue, and civil protection services were actively searching for the missing individuals, locating the yacht's wreckage at 50 meters depth. The yacht capsized around 5 a.m. off Porticello's port.

Experienced deep-water divers have been dispatched to investigate the hull. The missing include one member of the crew and six passengers. Local media reported the area endured a fierce storm overnight, although conditions had stabilized by Monday morning.

The yacht, constructed in 2008 by Italian firm Perini Navi, had been moored off the Porticello port, ANSA news agency reported.
