Speaking to Marathi news channel ABP Majha, Chetan Patil asserted that he only provided the design of the platform to the Indian Navy via the Public Works Department, dismissing any involvement with the statue itself.

Patil pointed out that a Thane-based firm undertook the statue's work. The 35-foot statue, installed at Rajkot Fort, Sindhudurg district, collapsed on August 26, nine months after being unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, fueling a political storm with opposition parties demanding Chief Minister's resignation.
