The Maharashtra Government has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the recent collapse of the Shivaji Maharaj statue in Malvan.
A technical committee, comprising engineers, IIT academics, and Navy officials, has been established to determine the factors leading to the incident, an official revealed.
This decision was orchestrated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a high-level meeting at his Mumbai residence, Varsha.
An FIR was lodged against the contractor responsible for the construction of the 35-foot statue, which collapsed only eight months after its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Public Works Department lodged the complaint, citing poor construction quality and rusted nuts and bolts.
