Madan Dilawar, Rajasthan's Education Minister, declared on Sunday that any books portraying Mughal emperor Akbar as 'great' would be burned. The announcement was made during his visit to Udaipur, where he addressed an audience at the Vivekanand Auditorium in Mohanlal Sukhadia University.
Dilawar contended that comparing Akbar to Maharana Pratap is an insult to the Rajput warrior king and undermines Rajasthan's pride. He described Maharana Pratap as a protector of the people who never bowed to Akbar, whom he accused of killing many for personal gain.
The minister vowed to scrutinize school textbooks across all classes, stating that any book found glorifying Akbar would be destroyed. Maharana Pratap remains a legendary figure in Mewar for his resistance against the Mughal Empire, particularly in the Battle of Haldighati in 1576.
