A tragic boat accident in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, has left one person dead and two missing after their motorboat struck a jetty late Monday evening.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) reported that the motorboat, carrying nine individuals, crashed around 9:15 p.m. The vessel was discovered half-submerged near a marina, prompting a swift response from DEEP, the Coast Guard, and other agencies.
Authorities found one deceased man on the boat, while six others were transported to a hospital for treatment. The search for the remaining two passengers continues, as officials investigate the significant damage caused when the boat collided with the jetty at the mouth of the Connecticut River.
