Midnight Heist Foiled at State Museum

A man was caught attempting to steal ancient coins from a government museum after concealing himself overnight. The security team spotted him and alerted the police, who apprehended the suspect as he tried to flee. About 100 coins from the Gupta and Sultanate periods were recovered.

A man concealed himself at a government museum overnight to commit a theft but was apprehended on Tuesday morning while attempting to abscond with ancient coins, police said.

The incident occurred at the State Museum, according to police commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra. The suspect, whose name was not disclosed, entered the museum before closing time on Monday evening and managed to remain inside. However, the security personnel detected his presence and notified the police early morning. The police responded promptly, surrounding the building. Mishra noted that the suspect tried to escape by jumping from a wall but was captured. Approximately 100 coins from the Gupta and Sultanate periods were seized from his possession.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway, the commissioner stated.
