Amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, Iranian Ambassador to India Iraj Elahi asserted on Friday that the strife between Iran and Israel is ''not new''. He encouraged Indians and other travelers to consider visiting Iran, describing it as safe for tourism and inviting them to discover Persia's historical richness.
In an interview with PTI during the Iran Tourism Roadshow in Delhi, Elahi expressed optimism about establishing more direct flights between the two countries, facilitated by Indian carriers operating from various Indian cities to Iran. Currently, there are three direct flights, connecting Tehran with Delhi and Mumbai.
Elahi emphasized that Iran has overcome wars and sanctions, reinforcing the nation's overall safety. He praised the longstanding bilateral relations with India, highlighting people-to-people connections and the need for increased awareness about each country's contemporary developments. Recent initiatives to boost tourism include visa exemptions for Indian tourists, streamlined entry processes, and efforts to expand direct flight frequency.
