Final Farewell to Ayodhya's Spiritual Leader

Mahant Satyendra Das, the revered chief priest of Ayodhya's Ram Janmabhoomi temple, was given a traditional 'Jal Samadhi' at Tulsidas Ghat after passing away at 85. His journey included a city procession and a water burial along the Saryu river, according to Ramanandi customs.

Mahant Satyendra Das, the esteemed chief priest of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, received a traditional 'Jal Samadhi' on Thursday evening, signifying a spiritual farewell. The ceremony took place on the banks of the Saryu river at Tulsidas Ghat.

The mortal remains of the 85-year-old spiritual leader were transported in a palanquin from his residence to the riverbank. Earlier in the day, a grand procession paraded his body around the city on a chariot, honoring his legacy and contributions.

Following the customs of the Ramanandi sect, Pradeep Das, his successor, detailed the ritual where heavy stones are tied to the body for its immersion into the river. Satyendra Das, who played a pivotal religious role during the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition, passed away in a Lucknow hospital on Wednesday.
