According to Shelar's office, the state's proposal seeks recognition for forts such as Raigad, Rajgad, and Pratapgad, under the theme 'Maratha Military Landscape of India.' This initiative follows directives from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, aiming to promote diplomatic engagement with UNESCO for heritage recognition.
The delegation's activities include technical presentations emphasizing the forts' historical significance. Minister Shelar hopes that UNESCO recognition will enhance conservation efforts and boost local tourism, benefiting Maharashtra's economy while preserving cultural landmarks.
