LPG Leakage Ignites Fire at Popular Delhi Biryani Chain

A fire caused by an LPG cylinder leak in a Delhi biryani restaurant injured six people, including staff and customers. The blaze occurred at Bikkgane Biryani in Connaught Place. Firefighters and police responded to the scene, and authorities are investigating potential negligence.

An LPG cylinder leakage in the kitchen of a well-known biryani chain led to a fire on Thursday afternoon, injuring three staff members and three customers, a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official reported. The incident occurred at Bikkgane Biryani in Connaught Place around 11:30 am, prompting the dispatch of six fire tenders to tackle the blaze.

Among the injured, restaurant staff Mahindra sustained 81% burns, while Piyush and Deepak suffered 70% burns each. These employees were present in the kitchen during the incident. Additionally, customers Md Alam, Sairuddhin, and Janak, seated near the kitchen, sustained up to 30% burns and were hospitalized for treatment.

The alert for the fire reached authorities by 11:55 am, leading to a swift fire department response. The restaurant, with outlets across the country, faced scrutiny from police investigators assessing adherence to safety protocols and potential negligence. Witnesses recounted the chaos, noting sounds of distress that drew prompt police and rescue responses.
