Hollywood icon Will Smith has confessed to turning down a role in the critically acclaimed film 'Inception' by director Christopher Nolan, citing a lack of understanding of the script as his reason. The film, which debuted in 2010 starring Leonardo DiCaprio, explored the complex journey of a thief who infiltrates the dreams of his targets to extract information.
In a recent radio interview, Smith opened up about his decision. "I don't think I've ever shared this publicly," he said, as reported by HuffPost. Smith explained that Nolan presented him with 'Inception' initially, but the intricate tale of alternate realities wasn't immediately clear to him. Although he remains impacted by missing out on the groundbreaking project, he humorously acknowledged how such films often struggle to find their footing in early pitches.
'Inception' went on to achieve international success, grossing over USD 836 million. Alongside DiCaprio, the film featured prominent actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Tom Berenger. As for Smith's upcoming work, he is set to star in 'Fast and Loose' under the direction of Michael Bay and reprise his role as Dr. Robert Neville in 'I Am Legend 2'.
