In a statement to the Assembly, West Bengal Tourism Minister Indranil Sen proudly announced that the state now has the highest number of certified tourist guides in India, with 1,022 guides accredited under the state's Tourist Guide Certification Scheme.
The minister highlighted various initiatives aimed at revitalizing tourism in Purulia, a district once marred by Maoist violence. He noted that tourists are currently flocking to the area's lush forests and tranquil hills.
Sen emphasized the state's commitment to supporting private tourism ventures and revealed the creation of the Purulia Tourism Development Council to facilitate travel promotion and tourist influx, highlighting the newfound peace and security in the area.
