The Indian Navy has once again demonstrated its operational prowess by successfully containing a fire on the Palau-flagged tanker, MT Yi Cheng 6, in the North Arabian Sea. The vessel, which was navigating approximately 80 nautical miles east of Fujairah, UAE, caught fire in its engine room, prompting a swift response from the Indian Navy.

Upon receiving the distress call on Sunday, the Navy quickly deployed Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tabar to render assistance. The warship arrived at maximum speed, evacuating seven crew members to safety and forming a team to tackle the blaze. Competent fire-fighting efforts, involving six naval personnel and the ship's crew, successfully reduced the intensity of the fire.

Reinforced by an additional team of 13 Navy personnel, including five officers and eight sailors, the fire was eventually brought under control. The incident has re-emphasized the Indian Navy's rapid response capabilities and commitment to ensuring maritime safety, leaving all 14 crew members unharmed and the tanker stable.
