Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took part in a significant cultural event in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. As part of the traditional Muharram observance, he served water to participants at the renowned Lal Chowk.

The minister, who was in Kashmir on an official visit, expressed his emotional connection to the tradition of distributing water to passersby during this important observance. Chouhan conveyed this sentiment to reporters, emphasizing the cultural significance and community spirit of the event.

While speaking with the media, Chouhan highlighted the central government's commitment to welfare programs. He detailed plans to provide housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to approximately five lakh individuals in Jammu and Kashmir, who currently lack permanent homes. Additionally, he outlined efforts to empower women and integrate them into the economy more significantly, aiming at transforming them into 'Lakhpati didis.'
