Marvel's Bold Recasting Move: A New Era for X-Men and Tony Stark

Marvel Studios plans to recast key roles in the X-Men franchise and Tony Stark, previously portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. Kevin Feige confirmed these changes following the events in 'Avengers: Secret Wars'. Marvel Studios is undergoing a significant transformation as it prepares to recast iconic characters in its new X-Men franchise and the role of Tony Stark, famously played by Robert Downey Jr. This change comes in the wake of 'Avengers: Secret Wars', slated for release in December 2027.

According to Kevin Feige, the chief of Marvel Studios, many previous 'X-Men' actors, including Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, will reprise their roles in 'Avengers: Doomsday', set for a 2026 release. Feige emphasized that while 'Endgame' focused on endings, the future is geared towards new beginnings.

Feige clarified that the MCU's foray into X-Men, under Jake Schreier's direction, will serve as a 'reset' rather than a 'reboot'. He compared this with other film franchises seeking fresh talent, mentioning the search for a new James Bond and applauding David Corenswet's recent portrayal of Superman.
