The Madras High Court has mandated state police to offer protection to movie theatres screening the Tamil film 'Kingdom', following concerns about potential disruptions. This development came after SSI Production, the film's producers, petitioned for police support to ensure uninterrupted shows.
In a hearing before Justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy, the state police undertook the responsibility to protect theatres, allowing peaceful film screenings. SSI Production specifically requested action against Seeman and followers should they attempt to interfere unlawfully.
Justice Chakravarthy emphasized that films certified by the censor board must not face unlawful hindrances. Nevertheless, dissent is welcome if expressed through lawful protests, the judge noted, granting Naam Tamilar Katchi's Seeman the right to protest following proper police permissions.
