Delhi High Court Greenlights 'Udaipur Files' Amid Controversy

The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed a plea seeking to stall the release of 'Udaipur Files,' a movie dramatizing the Kanhaiya Lal murder case. Despite concerns raised about potential prejudice against the ongoing trial, the court upheld the film's scheduled release, set for tomorrow.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, highlighted the producer's substantial financial commitment. They argued the film's non-release would upset the balance of convenience and noted that the movie's certification by the Board suggests it won't affect the ongoing trial.

Earlier, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had dismissed all revision petitions challenging the film's certification, supporting its public screening. Arguments in court included assurances that the film wouldn't influence judicial proceedings, preserving the right to a fair trial. The movie will premiere as planned, with tickets already sold.
