The 'Dahi Handi' festival in Mumbai and Thane ended in tragedy as two individuals lost their lives and over 300 suffered injuries. Civic officials reported these incidents on Sunday, noting that activities aimed at celebrating Lord Krishna's birth drew large crowds.

In Mumbai, out of 318 injuries, just 24, including a nine-year-old boy, required hospitalization, with others receiving outpatient care. This traditional festival involves young men and women forming human pyramids to smash 'dahi handis' — pots filled with curd — which are suspended high up and tied with ropes.

However, the festivities turned perilous, with two individuals, including a 14-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man, dying in accidents related to the event. In Thane, another 22 participants were hurt, and several required medical attention for injuries ranging from minor bruises to serious head traumas.
