Joe Caroff, the iconic graphic designer behind the legendary 007 gun logo and memorable posters such as those for West Side Story and A Hard Day's Night, has passed away at the age of 103. His death was confirmed by his sons, Peter and Michael Caroff, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Throughout his illustrious career, Caroff created opening title sequences for numerous films, including A Bridge Too Far, The Last Temptation of Christ, and Death of a Salesman. His remarkable poster designs also include those for classics like Cabaret, Gandhi, and A Fistful of Dollars, solidifying his legacy in cinematic history.

Despite designing the famous 007 logo, inspired by Ian Fleming's favored gun, Caroff received no royalties from its widespread use. Yet, his work brought significant business and recognition, recently earning him a 100th birthday gift from EON Productions. Caroff retired in 2006 to pursue painting, leaving behind a lasting creative impact.
