In a landmark decision underscoring the principle of legal equality, the Supreme Court has revoked the bail granted to actor Darshan Thoogudeepa in the Renukaswamy murder case. Former Congress MP and actor Ramya hailed the ruling, asserting it sends a strong message that justice must prevail without bias to fame or status.

A bench comprising Justices R Mahadevan and JB Pardiwala criticized the Karnataka High Court for overlooking critical evidence when it initially granted bail to Darshan. The top court's decision underscored that factors such as filing a chargesheet, witness lists, or trial delays should not undermine the severity of charges in such serious cases.

The Supreme Court further highlighted allegations against Darshan of interfering with the investigation. Evidence includes orchestrating false surrenders, financial manipulation, and misuse of police connections to alter critical reports. The court emphasized the danger of granting bail to high-profile individuals who could jeopardize the judicial process.
