Actor Pierce Brosnan, celebrated for his role as James Bond in four films from 1995 to 2002, has shown interest in reprising the iconic role. Speaking to the media, Brosnan quipped about the prospect of playing a senior version of 007, particularly if directed by Denis Villeneuve.
"I doubt audiences want to see a 72-year-old Bond," Brosnan remarked humorously, according to Variety. "But if Villeneuve has a unique vision, I'd consider it without hesitation. Why not? It would be entertaining and full of laughs, complete with bald caps and prosthetics," he added. Brosnan also mentioned that he and his wife eagerly await the announcement of the next James Bond.
"Everyone's curious about who will be the next James Bond. There are fantastic candidates, and I trust it will be a spectacular choice," Brosnan stated. The actor has previously brought 007 to life in 'GoldenEye,' 'Tomorrow Never Dies,' 'The World is Not Enough,' and 'Die Another Day' before retiring from the role.
Now, Brosnan is preparing for 'The Thursday Murder Club,' a Netflix film adaptation of Richard Osman's novel about a crime-solving senior community. Co-star Helen Mirren weighed in on the Bond topic, asserting that "James Bond must remain James Bond," as she shared with Deadline.
Earlier, Brosnan emphasized the importance of maintaining the British identity for the next Bond. Speculation is rife with potential candidates following Daniel Craig's 2021 departure, including Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi, and Harris Dickinson as front-runners.
With Denis Villeneuve eyed for direction, the film is currently in development. (ANI)
