Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has made a compelling call for achieving a delicate balance between economic growth, ecological preservation, and social equity while growing new tourist destinations in the Union Territory.
In a recent meeting, Abdullah reviewed development plans for emerging tourist spots, emphasizing the necessity for site-specific strategies with a detailed masterplan for each location. A presentation outlined the tourism potential and job opportunities these destinations could offer, providing a pathway for local youth employment.
Stressing environmentally sustainable tourism, Abdullah highlighted the importance of waste management systems and institutional support. He also announced progress in securing World Bank funding and urged the Tourism Department to expedite proposal approvals. A new Tourism App was launched to aid tourists in discovering J-K's beauties efficiently.
