Tragedy Strikes as North East Festival Events Cancelled
All events of the North East Festival in Singapore have been cancelled following the tragic death of beloved Assamese singer Zubeen Garg during a scuba diving incident. The singer was in Singapore to participate in the festival marking the 60th anniversary of India-Singapore diplomatic relations.

In a tragic turn of events, all activities associated with the North East Festival in Singapore, scheduled for Saturday, have been cancelled. This decision follows the untimely death of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who passed away while scuba diving in Singapore on Friday.
Garg, aged 52, was expected to be a key participant in the three-day festival which began on Friday. Indian High Commissioner Shilpak Ambule confirmed the cancellations, stating it was a necessary step due to the sudden unfortunate incident.
The festival was organized to commemorate 60 years of India-Singapore diplomatic relations and also coincided with the India-ASEAN Year of Tourism. The cancellation also affected the B2B Trade & Tourism Meet and a pre-event dinner attended by 150 guests.
